
In 2025, I hired a realtor/property manager to source a tenant for my property. A lot of tenants applied and were thoroughly screened, but did not meet the criteria. Via Zillow, we receive an inquiry about the rental from Treaquanna Cobb. She told the realtor she’s a hairdresser, recently a victim of identity theft (looking back, this was the first red flag), and was looking for a property for her and her elementary school aged-son to live in. The realtor stated she had a 700+ credit score, good validated income, no prior evictions according to the background check provided, employment verified, and prior home owner. She provided her tax returns as income verification since she was a hairdresser. Her drivers license in North Carolina matched her current address at the time. All the boxes were checked. My realtor approved the application as she passed all criteria, seemed like a “very nice young lady” and “on paper, was the ideal candidate.”
She produced money orders for payment and they met to exchange keys and payment in March 2025 and little did I know, it would be one of the biggest regrets of my life.
Looking back, I would have tried to personally meet with the tenant, ask more questions about her being a “victim of identity theft” and more documentation. I never could find her hairdresser business online no matter how much I looked and now I believe most if not all of those documents were fraud now knowing that she has an open misdemeanor case for false identification. This was not her first rodeo. However, I do believe she is the woman in the ID below and I’ll explain why further down in the text.

After living in my rental for 2 months, May rent was due and I received an email from Apartments.com stating her payment failed. I reach out to Apartments.com to ask why and they state that it is because she has multiple leases current on her account so they froze the payment for investigation. Figuring this is just a random system error and not knowing she’s a con woman, I ask them to unfreeze the payment and Treaquanna receives a refund and gets her “sister”, Alora Moore, to Zelle me the payment.

Treaquanna continues to be late ~15 days on rent every single month, partial payments are sent weeks apart with no communication and she eventually stops paying. Her number also mysteriously changes various times throughout the duration of her lease. She used Google Voice numbers at first and eventually gave me an iMessage number.

A few late rent payments later, she mentions that her dad was sick and she had to travel and that has affected her ability to pay. She later on mentions that her dad passed away. I send my condolences, but later on, I discover this was a lie. She also makes her (late) October rent payment on Apartments.com with 3 different payment methods which seems like very suspicious behavior.

During a subsequent inspection, there’s another woman who is her “aunt” and a young girl, both of whom are not on the lease.
I also notice while getting mail from the property to check for my own mail, that I never see Treaquanna’s name in any mail sent to the property. I only see mail addressed to an Aleta Moore and an Alora Moore. I chalk it up to maybe she just has them visiting from time to time, but my property manager also states that the tenant wasn’t home during an inspection and only her “mom” was at the property.


Treaquanna eventually stops paying rent and communicating altogether, so I am forced to file an eviction. While waiting for the eviction process to complete, I decide to do a record search for her name on the Fulton County clerk website. I see not one.. not two… not even three but TEN evictions under her name. Six of which were filed in 2025. One from 2021. Three in 2026. 4 out of 7 evictions are still pending (including mine). 7 of them were in Fulton County and 1 in Dekalb County, there may be others in other counties as well but I only searched in Fulton and Dekalb county court records.
I questioned how she could have multiple evictions open against her simultaneously… how can someone live in multiple places at once? I wonder if maybe there are multiple Treaquanna Cobbs other than her before jumping to conclusions. I reach out to one of the other plaintiffs and confirm that it is the same person. This landlord confirms their property was leased to Treaquanna in March 2025 (around the same time our lease commenced). She saw Treaquanna and her son move in and confirmed it was the same woman as in the ID.


The plaintiff and I talk further and she states the same issues I had with Treaquanna: consistently late rent payments that eventually stopped altogether, claims of deaths in the family as a cause for late payment (in their case, Treaquanna stated her mother died even though Treaquanna’s mother was at my property during an inspection), her mobile number changing frequently, Zillow payments being frozen and them having to use alternative payment methods.

My personal experience and research leads me to believe that Treaquanna Cobb is a scammer who applies for properties on Zillow, gets approved, and signs the lease under the guise that she will be living at the property. In actuality, she then subleases the property to other suspecting or unsuspecting people (likely with prior history of evictions), collects rent from those subleasers (who the actual landlord knows nothing of), eventually stops paying the landlord rent but continues pocketing rent from the subleasers. She repeats the cycle by applying to new properties; having profited off of not paying rent to the landlord yet collecting rent from the subleasers.
I believe she is able to get approved because of a loophole in the Zillow application process as Zillow allows prospective tenants to use one application for multiple properties and somehow, she must have created an airtight application with fraudulent documentation.
I know this because I spoke to another landlord who leased to her & has also filed an eviction and he stated during an inspection he discovered another man living at his property who claimed Treaquanna was the owner of the property and later backtracked to state he was related to her and just visiting the property. Another one of the landlords stated when she completed an inspection, it was a completely different woman living there. That same woman came to the eviction hearing in court and was extremely confused because she had been paying rent to who she thought was the landlord (Treaquanna), while the actual landlord received no rent.
I was also informed by a police officer that as of February 2026, Treaquanna has an active warrant out for arrest due to to property damage.

THESE ARE PROFESSIONAL TENANTS and SCAMMERS.
I am not sure how Treaquanna has been able to get away with this for so long but I’m hoping that me sounding this alarm will prevent other landlords from being scammed and losing thousands to a professional tenant like I did.
